ABOUT
Sounds of East Texas is a music awards platform dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the talent, heritage and impact of musicians across Texas, with a special spotlight on East Texas. Founded by East Texas artists Heather Harper (President) and Rylee Choate (Vice President), the organization exists to support, uplift and connect Texas artists, songwriters, bands, venues and music industry professionals through public recognition, cultural engagement and professional opportunities.
Launching in January 2026, Sounds of East Texas Awards celebrates all music genres and welcomes artists from every style and background to submit their work. Throughout 2026, the organization will focus on building community and business partnerships, engaging sponsors and vendors, and developing programs leading up to its first official awards ceremony in 2027.
In addition to its annual awards ceremony, Sounds of East Texas Awards hosts events throughout the year, including showcases, workshops and community performances, to connect artists, industry professionals and fans across the region.
Nominations will open in late 2026 and will be available to eligible artists and industry professionals across Texas. Through its annual awards and related initiatives, Sounds of East Texas Awards aims to honor artistic excellence, preserve regional music culture and strengthen the Texas music community by recognizing the voices and venues that make it unforgettable all while creating a sustainable platform for artists, industry partners and supporters.
